This year, Chimege Systems participated in Hello Tomorrow for the first time, gaining valuable insights and firsthand experience at one of the leading ecosystems for deep tech.

First, what exactly is deep tech? It refers to a category of startups and innovations that develop significant technological solutions based on scientific discoveries and complex engineering challenges. It is sometimes also referred to as hard tech.

For example, when a traditional retail business moves into the digital space by launching an online store, it can often do so without major technological breakthroughs. It can adapt existing e-commerce software or hire a software development company to build a website. This is not deep tech. The core of the business is selling products, while technology is simply a means to achieve that goal. For deep tech startups, however, technology itself is at the heart of the business. Their work often focuses on developing solutions for businesses in the B2B sector rather than directly serving end consumers, which typically requires a much higher level of technological innovation.

Deep tech addresses challenges across virtually every sector of life, and in recent years, there has been growing interest in solutions that apply deep learning to biological data. In many ways, this reflects the scientific depth that defines the field.

Hello Tomorrow is one of the world's most influential events dedicated to deep tech, held annually in Paris. This year's event ran for three days and brought together 100 of the world's leading startups, including 40 Deep Tech Pioneers. It was a proud moment for Chimege Systems to be among them.

Perhaps due to the lingering effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, many of the participating solutions focused on healthcare and biotechnology. Apart from a few space technology and agricultural innovations, Chimege Systems was the only participant representing the information technology sector.

The event offered a valuable overview of where the world is heading technologically and how quickly different fields are advancing. It also provided a glimpse into the scale of investment sought by deep tech companies, with funding ambitions often reaching tens of millions of dollars.
